Our Beliefs

See how we view God, Jesus, the Bible, man, and many significant aspects of our faith. Firmly rooted in Scripture, the beliefs of the Community Christian Church guide our decisions as a church.

  • Bible: We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • Trinity: We believe that there is one God; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit eternally existent in three persons.
  • The Father: We believe that God is great: He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, all-wise, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, Holy.
  • The Son: We believe that Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.
  • The Holy Spirit: We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
  • Salvation: We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.
  • Eternity: We believe that Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven.
  • Baptism: We believe that Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It signifies new birth, a cleansing from sin, the individual’s response to God’s grace, and acceptance into the faith community.
  • Communion: We believe in open communion, where all Christians are welcome. In the Lord’s Supper, “the living Christ is met and received in the sharing of the bread and the cup, representative of the body and blood of Jesus.”
  • The Church: We believe that the Church is a local community of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world.
